Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) – since 2013 are a form of financing for the development of new cryptocurrencies projects.
This year the ICOs raised more money in the first three months than in the entire 2017 year, with US$ 6.3 billion, ICO financing in the first quarter of 2018 was 18% higher than the one raised in 2017.
The average funding and financing rates on these projects are greater than ever, in the first quarter of 2018 it accounted for 59% of all ICOs that received capital in 2017.
Despite the regulatory risk there is still a great interest of the projects in selling tokens, a recent example was the sale of Telegram for US$ 1.7 billion, guaranteeing an extra volume of ICO sales in the first quarter, which even without it raised US$ 4.6 billion, or 85% of the total for 2017.
